Feather dress

After seeing the amazing feather and lace dress that Emma Watson wore to the Harry Potter premiere in London my frenzy for the feather trend has reached an all time high.

I have decided to pay homage by attempting to make my own feather mini dress for new years.  I figure that if I make the decision now I have enough time to construct it.

Here are two other inspirational photos of feather mini dresses to serve as inspiration

You may or may not see pictures of me in my feather dress on new years....it all depends on how ridiculous a DIY feather dress looks on my frame.

Delish oven roasted potatos

I am a huge fan of mashed potatoes.  In fact they are one of my favorite side dishes.  But sometimes I am tempted to mix it up a bit and make a slightly different potato side dish.  This one happens to be particularly easy and is on of my favorites.

Ingredients:
4 medium sided red skin potatoes
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 packet onion soup mix
cooking spray
plastic bag

Directions:
1. preheat oven to 425 degrees
2. Wash potatoes and chop into quarters

3. Toss potatoes into plastic bag
4.  Pour onion soup mix and olive oil into bag
5. Shake bag until potatoes are coated evenly

6. Spray a 9x9 inch baking pan with cooking spray
7.  Pour potatoes into pan and bake for 35 minutes, stirring occasionally.

8.  Enjoy as a side dish with chicken, steak, fish, or just a platter of mixed vegetables

The fast after the gorge

After an intense weekend of eating one would say that now is a good time to get back on track with exercise and eating well.  Let us remember some delicious bites from this thanksgiving before we speak of exercise....

And now a bit about exercise.  A great way to get started is to get great exercise gear.  I love taking long walks with Eddie and its never bad to look like you were born to run so to speak.  Here is my ideal stylish outdoor exercise outfit

Ham and Brie Crouets with hearts of palm/tomato salad

Sometimes the simple meals are the best.

When searching for a weeknight dinner all by my lonesome I often find myself unmotivated to concoct a large elaborate meal.  Then again sometimes I want something better than frozen burritos (which, don't get me wrong I eat my fair share of).  I have perfected the art of the simple tasty meal and following is one of my favorites.

Ingredients:
fresh baguette
thin sliced honey ham
brie or camembert cheese
basil
1 can hearts of palm
1/2 medium tomato or 1 small tomato(chopped)
1/4 kalamata olives (sliced)
Olive oil
1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
salt

Directions:
1) preheat over to 350
2) Make 5 thin baguette slices (about 1/2-3/4 inch thick, depending on your liking)
3) place the slices on a pan, lightly drizzle with olive oil
4) Top each baguette with a 1/3 slice of ham
5) Place a thin slice of brie on top of ham
6) Place crouetes in oven and bake until brie is melted (approximately 3-5 minutes)

While crouetes are cooking....
1) slice hearts of palm 1/2 inch thick
2) place hearts of palm in bowl and gently toss with tomato and olives
3) sprinkle with salt
4) lightly drizzle with olive oil and toss with balsamic vinegar

Place shredded basil on top of crouetes when cheese is melted and savor....

New food experiences

Allison and I decided to hit up Zengos in DC for dinner last night before we went exploring U street for bars we might go to for my birthday coming up in a few weeks.  It was a very tasty meal.  Zengos is a latin-asian fusion restaurant.  I got delicious

Fashion inspiration: part deux

In addition to drawing fashion inspiration from magazines and celebrity photos its always a good idea to take a cue from mannequins.  I love looking at store front windows to see how the shops dress their mannequins...like this window I recently passed at H&M in Georgetown....

So take a cue...inspiration is everywhere

Jerseylicious...

Most awful/favorite trend of 2010?  The Jersey Shore.  My girls and I love the show. It's just hilarious.  It's become a total pop culture phenom!  And as an ode to the jersey shore my dear friend Marisa decided she wanted a very jersey birthday in Atlantic city.  Complete with horrible dressing from AMIclubwear.com and T shirt time t-shirts.
The moral of the story?  It doesn't matter what you are doing.  If you are with your girls its always a good time.

The weekend begins (Driving to AC in out T-shirt time shirts, complete with nicknames on the back)
